Catullus16 Meets Tool -- Latin Heavy Metal
Catullus16 Meets Tool -- Latin Heavy Metal
I had some fun over the past couple of days writing a song in the style of Tool that incorporated the full Latin text of Catullus 16, arguably the most filthy, angry poem ever written in Classical Latin. I figured if Catullus was to ever write for a band, the music of Tool would be the best suited for the lyrics. This song was a lot of fun to produce, and in the process I discovered that I will never EVER be able to sing metal. Yikes. I wrote and recorded the music at home plugging my Gibson Epiphone into an M-Audio Black Box (Reloaded) and then into my PC via USB cable. Vocals were mic'd using an M-Audio Producer USB microphone also plugged directly into the PC. Recording software for vocals was Adobe Soundbooth, and for the guitar parts I used Audacity. I was surprised how the Black Box replicated Adam Jones' (Tool) guitar tones from the distortion to the chorus effects. My guitar was tuned to a modified dropped-D tuning. If you know a drummer (or are a drummer) who can drum in the style of Danny Carey, please let me know -- I need drums on this track! Apologies for the playing/singing/Latin pronunciation, but I had a good time making this. Perhaps somebody will enjoy it or write something better. In Latin.

Blatino Model Disses Black & Latin Men As "In The Scene" and "Messy" In Interview
Blatino Model Disses Black & Latin Men As "In The Scene" and "Messy" In Interview
Days after 3LWTV's Lonnell Williams posted his year in review video over his monumental moments of 2011, one last video that posted days after caused a firestorm of controversy courtesy of TV personality Zeric. The "Model City" reality-TV star and actor became a fixture on the BET Centric cable network as he openly revealed his homosexuality as the show began its promo run. Zeric's suave manly appearance and candor won fans in the LGBT community for being a role model to Black gay men in a Black TV network. Conversely, this 3LWTV exclusive interview that delved deeply into his relationship preference and self-esteem seemed to have tarnished his image and popularity amongst LGBT men of color. Originally labeling himself as a playboy early in the interview, when asked about being in a relationship, Zeric describes his current six-year relationship with an Italian man. While some viewers may be taken aback by the Black & Cuban model's interracial relationship, the model's unabashed "points of view" about his disdain for dating Black and Latino "boys" versus men of his preference set off a major backlash of comments by viewers who collectively deemed his comments as throwing the races of his demographic under the bus while putting a different race on a higher pedestal. Even Williams warned Zeric in the episode about the effect his comments can stir amongst viewers which the model carried on with his excluding crusade. The video interview is a must-see.
